Llane Alexis is a multidisciplinary artist based in San Francisco, CA. Originally from Havana, Cuba, he began his artistic career as a painter in 1997. Llane's unadulterated approach and enterprise with found materials are informed by his formative experience. His concerns about fashion industry wastefulness ultimately precipitated a shift towards working primarily with textiles.
Llane's process combines braiding, weaving, and hand-stitching techniques, which he uses for transforming off-cut, unwanted fabric scraps into functional goods and art objects. He also preserves our relics and "repairs" our rejects (such as damaged furniture) as part of his ongoing studio practice, and on commission.
His work has been commissioned by private collectors and presented in solo and group exhibitions around the world. Llane welcomes proposals for collaboration from artists, designers, and brands.
For our collaboration bags, Llane is using My Dear Tejas deerskin remnants along with dosa remnants.
